North’s 2nd XV faced Marple, a side that had caused North’s 1st XV a lot of problems during their title run-in the previous season.

North had an extremely young, inexperienced team which included many debutants including Jonny Hyland who was the 3rd member of the Hyland family to represent North on Saturday, along with father and 1st XV centre Chris, and 2nd XV fly half James. Despite excellent performances from the brothers, along with Adam Aubrey, Sam Donley and Aaron Morrison, North suffered a 34-0 defeat against a team who will surely be one of the favourites for promotion this season.

The team will travel to Ashton under Lyne this Saturday and will hope to claim their first points and win of the season.
